Description : The Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) 2005 Snowboard World Championships presented by Nokia, the most important snowboarding event next to the Winter Olympics, was held at Whistler, British Columbia from January 15-23, 2005, marking the first time the prestigious event was held in North America.
The FIS Snowboard World Cup was founded in the mid-1990’s when the sport of snowboarding was in consideration for Olympic Sport status. After the World Cup was established, the FIS developed a World Championships similar to other Olympic Sports.
