Description : For the first ten minutes the trail winds through the clearcut - notice the sizes of the stumps, which vary from quite small to larger trees that were 200-300 years old or more. This was a climax old-growth forest; perhaps some form of selective cutting would have better mirrored the natural disturbance conditions of this fragile ecosystem?
