Description : The Site comprises of the Oldest Stone House Northwest of Toronto, built in 1814 by Charles Oakes Ermatinger (Fur Trader). This home has authentically recreated rooms, costumed interpreters, heritage activities, and historic gardens. The Clergue Blockhouse is a link to Sault Ste. Marie’s Past. The building was transformed from a North West Fur Company powder magazine to Clergue’s residence. It now stands as a testimony to the man behind our industry.
