Description : One of the “Jewels” of the Ontario Parks system! Lake Superior Provincial Park is distinctive for its rugged topography and scenic beauty. Located on the east shore of the world’s largest freshwater lake, this large natural environment class park was created in 1944 as a result of concerns raised by residents of Sault Ste. Marie for the need to protect a significant portion of the Lake Superior shoreline. Containing 155,659 hectares (384,633 acres), the park boundaries encompass a provincially significant natural and cultural landscape not found elsewhere in Ontario
