Description : Drive up spectacular Squamish Valley to the Elaho Valley which holds Giant Ancient Trees as old as1300 years.

The Elaho valley is dominated by a rocky, partly rugged terrain. Up to the timberline (at about 1,400 to 1,500 m) the valley is mostly covered by continuous forest. The mountain ranges and valleys are a product of geologic uplift that began about 10 million years ago. The Coast Mountains have risen 2,000 - 3,000 m in the last 10 million years and were extensively modified and sculptured during the last Ice ages.

The Elaho Valley is so unique for it,s up to 1300-year old Douglas firs, of which there are approximately 50 in one place. Nowhere else have people found a cluster of such old Douglas firs. Some of these trees were born in 700 A.D.!
