Clinging to the shores of Discovery Passage, Campbell River British Columbia is the perfect jumping-off point to go Whale Watching, Grizzly Bear Watching and explore the marine environments of the Discovery Islands, including Quadra Island, Cortes and Sonora Islands, and Desolation Sound. The scenery is spectacular, with island shores ranging from rocky beaches strewn with bleached driftwood to cliffs rising from the waters edge. Mainland peaks and the Vancouver Island Mountain Ranges remain snow covered until late June, often reflecting the morning and evening sunlight in golden hues. Ocean rapids formed by rising and falling tides boil and roll through narrow passageways and rise in standing waves over unseen rocks below.
